PYSANKY WORKSHOP

MADRE is so excited to offer 2 Pysanky Workshops this spring!

This is one of Shay's most favorite traditions and crafts. After honing her skills for 24 years and sharing it with many friends over this time, she is very excited to welcome students into the HQ for an immersive day of lost wax egg painting. 

Pysanky is a traditional Ukranian lost wax egg decorating craft. It originates thousands of years ago, with roots tracing back to the prehistoric Trypillian culture. The precision that can be created with the stylus is remarkable and the unveiling of each egg is pure magic! It is our hope that you will take this craft and make it part of your family's traditions

We are excited to welcome guest artist Hillery Sproatt who learned the technique a few years ago and whose eggs Shay fell madly in love with! Hillery will guide with her more whimsical technique where Shay will guide in a more traditional sense of the craft- you will take it all and make it your own expression.

All materials are included in the workshop fee. Expect to take home at least one completed egg if not several to begin your Spring Eostre tree! Beginner kits will be available for purchase if you find you love it so much that you need to go right home and continue!

Workshop is from 10am to 2pm and light fare + tea will be served.
