Exploring Abstraction with Mia Farrington
Over four weeks, we’ll dive into the language of abstraction, looking not only at influential abstract painters of past and present but also at sources such as fashion, architecture, and the natural world. Rather than learning how to paint in a traditional sense, you’ll explore how to create from intuition and develop your own visual language. You’ll experiment with the expressive range of acrylics, discovering their unique qualities and applications. As part of the process, you’ll stretch your own canvas and prepare the surface for painting. Guided exercises encourage you to play with color, movement, and mark-making as you uncover your individual preferences and style. With step-by-step support, you’ll move from first sketches to completing a series of abstract paintings that reflect your personal vision.
