Dark Shadows of Fall | Gray and Black Natural Dye with Janessa Bautista + Susan Wiencke
Join us for a day of exploration in creating shades of grays and blacks, diving into the Dark shadows of Fall.
We will be layering various plant materials to achieve dark hues.
Join us to learn some of these techniques and take home a silk scarf and an organic cotton t-shirt.
Janessa is a designer and textile artist living in the Columbia River Gorge. She lives surrounded by a community of healers, plant medicine teachers, artists, farmers, musicians, fire tenders and magical creatures. As a first generation Filipina American, she strives to learn and find connections to the ways of her ancestors. Working with plant dyes and plant medicine is a strong source of connection. She grows her dye plants just steps away from her outdoor dye studio, overlooking the cedar and alder forest. With wisdom and compassion, she aspires to be of integrity with all aspects of her life's practices and work for the benefit of all beings.
Susan Wiencke is a queer parent, farmer, educator, botanical dye artist and somatic practitioner who lives and works at Owl Song Farm and Fiber in Corbett. With over two decades of experience in teaching and farming, Susan puts care into her lessons so that students find joy in the process of learning new skills and connecting with Nature.
